Of all of the great charities in the gaming and esports worlds, there is one that stands out the most in my eyes: Gamers Outreach.

Their mission is simple and straightforward: bring the joy of gaming to children with extended stays in hospitals. With the creation of their GO Karts, a “portable, medical-grade video game kiosk that provided entertainment to children unable to leave their rooms,” donations, and charitable work, the company has been able to sustain support for over 1.2 million children per year. It’s an incredible feat that they want to continue to build on with their annual charity event Gamers for Giving

Gamers for Giving is a “weekend-long competitive gaming tournament, LAN party, & Streamathon that helps raise money in support of Gamers Outreach programs” founded in 2008, and has continued to lead to massive support for their cause. Now, still in the heart of a global pandemic, Gamers for Giving finds themselves adjusting again to make the event happen.

With the pandemic sweeping everyone off of their feet last year, Gamers Outreach moved Gamers for Giving to an online-only event, and even with the adaptation to the circumstances, support for the event was mind-blowing. Gamers Outreach and Gamers for Giving 2020 raised over $675K “to provide gaming experiences to as many as 422,000 children” through the support of donations and streamer campaigns.

Now, still deep within the heart of a global pandemic, Gamers for Giving 2021 continues to adjust and sets its eyes on being online-only once more. Now, with even loftier goals in mind in 2021, they’re seeking to help support the kids who need it the most, when the need for programs like Project GO Kart is at an all-time high.

Gamers for Giving and Gamers Outreach just want to give kids the chance to play and at least temporarily remove them from the stress of being in a hospital long-term. It’s a chance for the gaming community to help give that joy to those who need it the most at a time when they just need joy and happiness.

Gamers for Giving 2021 will be held on March 20 and 21, with more details coming soon.
