According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. (NBCF), there are an estimated 276,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer that will be diagnosed in 2020 alone. With the exception of skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women. It’s a disease that has touched nearly all of us in some form, and now that Breast Cancer Awareness Month has arrived, Ritual Motion will be getting involved. Find out more here.
Game Pink, hosted by the NBCF, begins on October 3, and anyone can sign up and create their own charity stream. Interviews and gameplay during the official event will feature prominent streamers like Jack “CouRage” Dunlop, Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf, and Mehdi “dasMEHDI” Zahid.
As a proud partner of the NBCF, Ritual Motion will be producing and selling special Game Pink Gaming Skins. It’s a fantastic way to promote healthy gaming while supporting a phenomenal cause, and 15% of each Game Pink skins purchase will support the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Get your Skins Now!
As we count down to the event, we had the opportunity to chat with Kevin Hail, President and COO of the National Breast Cancer Foundation, and creator of Game Pink.
Q: What is Game Pink Live and how did it get started?
Kevin Hail: Game Pink was started in 2016 by the National Breast Cancer Foundation to bring together gamers, streamers, developers, and publishers on a mission to help women and families impacted by breast cancer. Game Pink Live is specifically an event to amplify Game Pink during a four-hour live stream, beginning at 12:30 PST. It will be hosted by gaming industry veteran Geoff Keighley and will feature interviews and gameplay with several streamers.
Q: Breast Cancer Awareness Month is important to a lot of people. How has this disease personally changed your life?
Hail: [I] was a young boy when [my] mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. When a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer it impacts the whole family. That is why it is NBCF’s mission to Help Women Now by providing help and inspiring hope to those affected by breast cancer.
Q: The NBCF previously held a live fundraising event in Texas, where popular YouTube vlogger Preston Playz raised over $480,000 in Minecraft Live. Do you predict that more people will become involved now that the event is moving forward digitally? How has the pandemic affected the way this year’s event is built?
Hail: Yes, we do expect that more people from around the world will be able to join us in this digital format and due to the pandemic, people really want to help support others at this time. With this event, we will be able to bring everyone together for a good time and for a great cause.
Q: What streamers are you excited to see in the event?
Hail: We are excited to have PrestonPlayz, KelseyDangerous, Bugha, JD Witherspoon, CouRage, QuarterJade, dasMEHDI, and many more join us!
Q: How can others participate?
Hail: Share Your #GamePink Story here (https://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/gamepink).
