Coinbase has launched the beta for its new NFT marketplace beginning today. The cryptocurrency exchange platform announced its intention to create a NFT marketplace last fall. When it fully launches, users will have the ability to buy or sell NFTs.

The beta version of the marketplace, created on the Ethereum blockchain, features digital creations from artists like Cool Cats and Doodles. Currently, Coinbase is selecting beta testers from a waitlist and will not charge transaction fees for purchases. Testers will be able to buy or sell NFTs with their crypto wallets and also set up their own profiles. In addition, beta testers can utilize social tools to interact with other users and build communities.

Even though the marketplace isn’t open to the general public yet, Coinbase has invited everyone to check out the first version of the site.

The company announced on Twitter: “Our beta is officially live! Today we kick things off with a full-access experience for some of our waitlist frens. As we ramp up, everyone can explore the vast collection of NFTs on the first version of Coinbase NFT.”

Eventually, fees will be added to the beta version in addition to other features, however, Coinbase hasn’t revealed a timeline for the platform’s public opening. Coinbase did reveal that it would be “planning to add drops, minting, token-gated communities, and the option to buy NFTs with your Coinbase account or a credit card.” Alongside Coinbase features, more chains will be gradually added to the platform.
